Busch Gardens Theme Park Orlando Florida

Situated in Tampa, some 72 miles to the west of Orlando, and the main Disney Theme Parks, Busch Gardens is part zoological park and part theme park. Featuring animals big and small, intermixed with big rides and big shows, Busch Gardens Tampa is a great day out and a change from the Orlando Theme Park Scene scene.

Busch Gardens first opened its doors back in 1959 with animals and rides. Over the years as the Orlando based theme parks have grown ever larger and more thrilling, then Busch Gardens has evolved to keep pace. Today whilst the emphasis is still on the zoological part of the park, the theme park and rides are taking over. Much as with Universal the bias is towards bigger adrenaline fueled rides.

Leopards at Busch Gardens

Whilst worth a visit and great as part of a visit to St Petersburg and the Gulf Coast, with competition from SeaWorld and Disney's Animal Kingdom Busch Gardens struggles to offer anything extra. If on a tight Orlando based schedule then perhaps Busch Gardens is one worth saving for another time, but if you have time to spare or are in the Tampa area then give it a go.

As Busch Gardens is part of the SeaWorld group, tickets can be purchased individually or as part of a package including other parks.

The park is split into themed areas, Morocco, The Congo, Egypt and so on. You can walk between the areas or catch the train or skyrail, on a hot sunny day its worth saving your energies for walking around each area and not in between.
