Disney World Orlando, Florida Fireworks and Parades

Floats, illuminated floats, fireworks, lasers and music are all to be found in abundance at the many Disney parades. Disney World Orlando Florida features four main theme parks and each has its own style of parades. The Main Street Electrical Parade in Magic Kingdom is perhaps the pinnacle, a dazzling array of illuminated floats accompanied by hundreds of actors and dancers all beautifully choreographed in time and music. But all of the shows, whether the daytime Pixar Pals in Disney's Hollywood Studios, or nighttime spectaculars like EPCOTs IlluminNations or Disney's Hollywood Studios Fantasmic are brilliant and a thrill for all ages.

Parade days and times vary by week depending on time of year and how busy the parks are, the summer schedules featuring shows most days of the week. Times are posted at the entrance and flyers available around the park give that weeks schedule.

Parades follow set routes, cast members mark these out with ropes and tape as the time of the parade approaches. Little ones can sit at the front with others stood behind, but even so routes become crowded and people will claim their spot early on. Cast members will keep passages open to allow free movement around the park and will give guidance on where you can go at any time. With nighttime shows the street lighting is dimmed as the floats approach. Announcements will urge you to stay put at these times and it really is best to do so as it goes quite dark, and with hundreds of people sat around you moving can easily cause problems.

You will see and hear all of the parade wherever you watch from. The Magic of Disney extends to the management of parades, with the music on the floats being integrated with the loudspeakers around you as that particular float passes, allowing everyone to enjoy all of the parade.

Main Street Electrical Parade

Starting from the front of the park, heading down Main Street USA and away through Frontier Land, Magic Kingdoms Main Street Electrical Parade is a spectacle to behold, with twinkling lights, dazzling costumes and a thumping soundtrack.

Main Street Electrical Parade

Whilst all of the parade can be viewed from anywhere on the route getting a place near the bottom of Main Street with the illuminated castle as the backdrop can be fantastic. Wishes Nighttime Spectacular firework show follows an hour or so after the parade and so being in position for the first can leave you well placed for the second.

For me the Main Street Electrical Parade is one of the highlights of a holiday to Orlando, you really don't want to miss this one.

Wishes Nighttime Spectacular

Tinkerbell sweeps in on from high above Tomorrow Land to the top pinnacle of Cinderella's Castle and ushers in the start of a star studded story told with score of Disney classics and wonderous pyrotechnics.

Pinocchio is our narrator and accompanied by Peter Pan, Ariel and Cinderella they preside over the biggest firework show in Disney's history.

Expect some loud bangs and lots and lots of fireworks.

In stormy weather the fireworks will generally go ahead, although Tinkerbell may not be able to start the show.

Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade

Magic Kingdoms daytime spectacular sees Mickey accompany the Princesses andMagic Kingdom Parade every Disney favorite character on a glittering array of floats around the park. Frontierland and Liberty Square offer great vantage points, with characters offering handshakes and quick hugs to little ones sat at the front.

Arrive early for the best view, if possible pick a spot in the shade and make sure there is plenty of water to keep you all refreshed until the end. And get those cameras ready, photos aplenty are waiting to be taken.

IllumiNations Reflections of Earth

EPCOT comes to life after dark, and as the evening comes to its end, then IllumiNations Reflections of Earth springs into life. The display plays out on the lake of World Showcase, with an enormous globe in its center displaying images from around the world. Barges on the lake fire lasers and fireworks into the night sky as narration and soundtrack boom out from all around.

IllumiNations is a very good show, perhaps second only to Magic Kingdoms Main Street Electrical Parade. The show can be seen and heard equally as well from anywhere around the lake and with its vast size there is never a problem finding somewhere to stand. The balcony on the restaurant in Japan offers a good elevated positions to view from. As the park closes after the conclusion of the show there is some pressure on the car park trams. If you watch from the far side of the lake and enjoy a leisurely stroll back afterwards, the queues will have mostly subsided by the time you get there.

Fantasmic

Disney's Hollywood Studios is all about big shows and they don't come much bigger than Fantasmic. Based around The Sorcerer's Apprentice and featuring a fascinating combination of lasers, fireworks and water effects, the show sees Mickey struggling against evil forces until his imagination and friends come to the rescue.

Set in an open air amphitheater Fantasmic is best seen on a warm, dry and still night. The best seats go early so if possible arrive in good time, there are plenty of cast members on hand to help out, also offering refreshments and souvenirs for sale.

Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun

The stars of Pixar come out to play on the streets of Disney's Hollywood Studios for this high energy daytime parade. The Incredibles, Woody, Buzz and others from Toy Story join Mikey and Sully from Monsters Inc with many more to thrill all Disney Pixar fans.

Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade

Disney's Animal Kingdom is not one to be left out when it comes to parades with Mickey and his pals Jam around the park.

This afternoon parade features favorite Disney characters and animals from around the globe in a colorful sing along. The winding paths of Animal Kingdom can get pretty crowded during this 15 minute parade, so best pick your spot and stay put until the parade and its aftermath have passed you by.
