Disney, Universal and the Theme Parks of Orlando, Florida

When someone mentions Orlando, the first thing that springs to mind is Theme Parks, and although Orlando and Florida offer so much more, the Theme Parks are the main thing and they are fantastic. With so many in such close proximity the need for each to try their hardest, be competitive, add new rides and keep up to date makes the experience so much better for the visitor.

Universal Theme Park Orlando

From the airport arrivals lounge to the hotel or villa and to each and every restaurant you cannot escape the pull of the theme parks. Adverts, posters and flyers always try to tempt you onto bigger and better rides.

Disney was there first and is still the daddy of all theme parks, with Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Disney MGM, Water Parks and Downtown Disney. It is very easy to spend a very very full two weeks without leaving the Disney site. But there is of course more, Universal Studios (with the fantastically recreated Harry Potter world), SeaWorld and then further afield Busch Gardens and the fantastic NASA.

And then on top of all this there are countless restaurant's (some of which don't sell burgers!) and other attractions to take any time you have left.

Add to this sunshine lots and lots of sunshine, cheap food, great shopping and people who do genuinely want you to have a nice day, a fantastic holiday is there for the taking.

Take the Theme Parks slowly, give yourself time to enjoy all of a park and not just a few rushed highlights. Take care with the sun and heat and plan your days to make the best of the shows and rides whilst avoiding the queues.

Each of the main parks are reviewed on the following pages, with separate sections for each world within each park some individual rides and eating areas have their own factsheets giving key details to help you choose the rides and places that suit you.
